Join us for the Riverside’s Knowledge Path, St. Patrick’s Holiday Delight
Shamrocks are lucky
Leprechauns are fun
May your March Break be spent
Outdoors in the Sun!
Happy St Patrick’s Day!
Top of the mornin’ to ya! Legend says that when you trap a Leprechaun, he will have to share his secret place where he hides his gold in return for his freedom. What do you think? What would you do with the gold if you were able to trap a leprechaun and strike a deal for his secret stash?
Did you know that the national emblem of Ireland is the Shamrock? Shamrock is a clover-like plant that grows on grassland and roadsides. Normally it would have three leaves but very rarely it grows with four leaves. In fact, only one out of around 10,000 has four leaves. It’s interesting to know that throughout the world, four-leaf clovers are symbols of good luck.
Since we can’t visit Ireland to find luck this March Break, why not imagine you’ve been teleported to Ireland by visiting the beautiful Riverside Knowledge Path surrounded by nature, singing birds, dancing trees, positive vibes and most importantly Leprechauns and Shamrocks that have been hidden for you to discover! Take a wander along the path and count how many Leprechauns and Shamrocks you find. Challenge your group members to see who can spot them first.
What you need to do/How to play:
There are multiple Leprechaun cut-outs hidden throughout Riverside’s Knowledge Path. Unlike Leprechauns, don’t wait for rain and rainbows to get the party going! All you need to do is to show up, by yourself or with your family and friends - the more the merrier! - and find the hidden Leprechauns. Children might have fun pretending to ask the Leprechauns where they’ve hidden their gold! You never know, they might give away their secrets and you might just find the best pot of gold or prize you can think of – like spending quality time outdoors making memories. Sounds so exciting!
But wait, there is more: the more Leprechauns you find, the greater your chances to actually win a prize! Simply upload a picture of yourself standing beside the Leprechaun, share to our Facebook Page and mention how many cut-outs you saw (please leave the cutouts in place for others to find). The draw for the prize will happen after March Break.
May you be touched by a bit of Irish Luck! We hope you find some treasure in the form of Leprechauns and Shamrocks but remember the greatest treasure of all lies within you.
